Why do I need bookkeeping?
Because it is how you know what your business is really doing. Good books show what you earned, what you spent and what you can afford. They make tax time simple, they give a lender or investor something solid to look at, and they let you make decisions with real numbers instead of a gut feeling.
What is included in monthly bookkeeping?
Every transaction categorized, your bank, credit card and loan accounts reconciled to their statements, receipts matched, and a Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet each month (do not worry, I will show you what those are and how to read them). At year end, you also get a package for your tax preparer.
I am behind, or my books are a mess. Can you help?
Yes, and it is far more common than you think. I record and reconcile the months that are missing, fix errors and duplicates along the way, and get you current. From there, monthly bookkeeping keeps you that way.
What will you need from me?
Access to your QuickBooks Online file (if you already have one), your bank and credit card statements, and your receipts. Once your bank feeds are connected, most months it is just a few quick questions.
Do I need bookkeeping software?
You do not need to have it already. I work exclusively in QuickBooks Online. If you already use it, I will work in your existing file. If you do not, I will help you get set up, and you can pay for the subscription directly or I can add it to your monthly fee as a reimbursement.
Do you prepare taxes?
No. I focus on bookkeeping and work alongside your tax preparer or CPA, giving them clean, reconciled books.
